Cooking Pizza on Your Big Green Egg
What You’ll Need
- ConvEGGtor™
- Pizza Stone
- Pizza Peel
- Frozen Pizza or Desire Ingredients
- Optional accessories, check them out here!
When cooking pizza on the Big Green Egg you will utilize indirect heat with the help of your ConvEGGtor™. Get started by nestling your starter in the charcoal, placing your ConvEGGtor™, legs up, and the cooking grate atop that. Place the pizza stone on the grate, and warm it to an appropriate temperature (600 degrees is recommended).
Next, choose the type of pizza you want to make. You should decide on the type of dough for the crust (a deep dish crust requires a deep dish baking stone).
Place the dough on the pizza peel, using a thin layer of cornmeal or parchment paper to keep the crust from sticking. Now is the time for your favorite sauce, toppings, and cheese (pro tip: put the toppings on before the cheese for a bigger flavor).
Because your Big Green Egg is at a high temperature, you should properly burp it as you open the top, allowing oxygen to enter slowly and safely. Place the pizza onto the baking stone using the peel, close the lid, and you will have a pizza toasted-to-perfection in no time at all. Safely remove the pizza using your pizza peel, cut, cool, and enjoy!
Because you used your Big Green Egg to do the cooking, your pizza is full of flavor, the mess is easy to clean-up, and your oven didn’t heat up your kitchen in the process.
